The Company: About M & T Machine

M&T Machine, located in Westfield, Mass., is a one-man shop that produces tooling for jet engines, regular fasteners, and medical devices. It has been operating for approximately five years and is run by Mike Vella.

The Situation: Hours of Administrative Work

If the repeat job needed a material change, that would add extra time to an already overdrawn process. Mike has only to push a few buttons, and a quote is created. A repeat job requiring material changes only takes Mike five minutes to requote, and a job with quantity changes now takes one minute. What used to be the shop’s biggest pain — tracking job cards — has become a process that takes less than a minute.
